Elevate the existing AWS Girls’ Tech Day event, which aims to inspire and motivate girls and young women to pursue STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics). We were tasked with expanding on existing workshops and the overall experience in order to create more dynamic learning opportunities that would encourage the girls to dive into fields they may not have considered otherwise.
Girls from local schools were invited to a day of STEAM exploration. The event kicked off with local cheerleaders hyping up the girls as they entered the venue, followed by inspirational AWS women speakers. Experts in STEAM shared their experiences of what it’s like as a woman in these fields and encouraged the girls to find a passion of their own to explore.
After the opening ceremony, the girls divided into groups to rotate through various activities, from robotics to art technology, and so much more! In between sessions, the girls were invited to participate in an array of community give-back and team building activities.
The day wrapped up with closing remarks and a dance party before the students were sent home, arms full of AWS merch and minds full of fun memories.
